What our clients say

Our clients' feedback reflects our commitment to delivering high-quality hearing services with expertise and integrity.

I wish I had bought them sooner! I feel that I hear about as well as anyone else does in noisy situations and certainly have the television volume down much much lower. When I go for my walks I can now hear many more birds than I could previously. Most enjoyable!

Helene

I’m delighted to find hearing aids that actually work for me. I can hear what everyone’s saying now and join in the conversations!

Pauline

I think the new instruments are excellent and consider them to be a significant upgrade on the older aids that I was wearing. I would absolutely recommend Alpha Hearing to anyone considering getting hearing aids.

Our approach to hearing health

Each hearing assessment at Alpha Hearing is tailored to your needs and unlike most providers, we conduct a full and comprehensive audiological hearing assessment.

Ways we care for your hearing:

  • Visual ear examination (otoscopy) including pictures and ear wax removal if required
  • Middle ear function testing (tympanometry or impedance testing)
  • Pure tone audiometry (air and bone conduction, including masking) (hearing test)
  • Speech audiometry (speech discrimination testing)
  •  Personal, friendly and gentle service

A hearing test, also known as an audiometric evaluation, determines an individual’s ability to hear sounds, most notably speech sounds. A hearing test can help identify hearing loss or auditory disorders that may impact your quality of life.

A hearing test is crucial for early detection and intervention of hearing loss, allowing appropriate measures to be taken to address the issue promptly.

Frequently Asked Questions

There’s a lot to think about when it comes to your hearing. We’ve put together answers to questions we get asked most often.

Do I need a referral to book a hearing test?

No, you don’t need a referral to see us. You’re welcome to book your hearing test directly.

If your GP or another health professional has recommended a hearing check, you can simply make an appointment at a time that suits you.

What happens during a hearing test?

You’ll be warmly welcomed and we’ll take some time to chat about why you’ve come to see us, any concerns you have and how we can be of service.

You will sit in a soundproofed space and will be asked to wear headphones through which various sound and speech will be played.

Are hearing aids the only option if I have hearing loss?

Not always. Sometimes simple strategies or other treatments can help, depending on the type and degree of hearing loss. If hearing aids are recommended, we’ll talk you through all the options, with no pressure to rush into anything.

How much does a hearing test or appointment cost?

We believe in clear, upfront pricing. Hearing tests for adults and seniors are often subsidised if you’re eligible, and we’ll let you know about any costs before your visit. Hearing tests for pensioners and DVA cardholders are free (funded by the Government Hearing Services Program). Just give us a call if you’d like details for your situation.

Is there parking easily available?

Yes, free parking is available at both our clinic sites - in Mt Waverley at the rear of the clinic or on Stephensons Road and in Balwyn on-site. Accessible spaces are available. You won’t need to search for a park. Access is easy and free.
